The Birdcage Theater was short lived, 1881-1889. It was boarded up and by the time of this 1932 photo, building remnants on either side had been cleared away. The theater stayed closed until tourism began to take hold. That must have been around the time of this photo, as an original photo of this theater does not have the big sign across the top. Even though this sequence of photos here shows a few people on the streets, the theater doesn't look to be a major attraction.
